A broad band of light to moderate lake effect snow across most of Onondaga, Madison and southern Cayuga counties, and, northern Cortland and northern Chenango counties will continue through 6 am. Maximum snowfall rates will be around half an inch an hour. Snowfall amounts between 1 and 6 am will be 1 to 3 inches in the band. Outside the band snowfall amounts will be an inch or less.

Bands of lake-effect snow will continue to affect the region tonight and Friday morning. The most persistent squalls should occur this evening... when snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible. Snow intensity should gradually weaken on Friday.
Total lake-effect snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected by Friday morning... with localized amounts of up to 18 inches. The highest accumulations will be near Phoenix... Brewerton... and Cicero.
