regional weather discussion... Afternoon high temperatures ranged from the mid 50s near Ponca City where the effects of a cool surface high were most strongly felt...to around 70 along the Red River. South to southeasterly winds have returned across the region in response to low surface pressure just east of the Rocky Mountains. These winds will continue at around 10 mph this evening. With the sky remaining clear...temperatures will drop into the mid 40s in northern Oklahoma...to the mid 50s near the Red River...by 8 PM.
