Statement as of 3:30 PM EST on January 08, 2009 ... Winter Storm Watch in effect from late Friday night through Sunday morning... The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Winter Storm Watch... which is in effect from late Friday night through Sunday morning. Snow accumulations of six inches or more are possible from late Friday night through Saturday night in association with an approaching storm system moving eastward through the Ohio Valley. Sleet and freezing rain may mix in at times across the south central mountains and lower Susquehanna valley. There is still some uncertainty with regard to the exact track of the system... which will ultimately influence storm total snowfall amounts and precipitation types. A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite source of weather information for the latest updates. Additional details can also be found at... weather.Gov/statecollege. |
